Caroline Penn

Book Artist

After a career as an editorial photographer and then a picture editor, Caroline completed an MA in Book Arts at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London. During this time, her practice addressed the slippage between memory and place in artworks that examined what is retained and what is lost in recollections of home. Since then, she has continued to work with themes of presence and absence, looking for the human in the inanimate, working with photographs, drawings, collage and projection to create books and small installations.

Her recent work, ‘Chair Stories’, looks at our relationships with chairs and her current work on Chesil Beach explores a human geology.
